JARRATT — Ricky Javon Gray was executed by injection Wednesday night for the slaying of two young Richmond sisters on New Year’s Day 2006. Gray, 39, was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center. Asked if he had any final words, Gray said, “Nope,” according to a prison spokeswoman. It appeared to take an inordinately long time — more than a half-hour — to place the IV lines and do other procedures behind a curtain that blocked the view of witnesses. Lisa Kinney, spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Corrections, said that she could not comment on why it took so long.
